Friday, January 25th: 56.3 km; temperature -2.2C/28F; dry; started at 6:00 p.m. accompanied by son Thad (unicycling) and two bicyclists (John Rezell and Thomas Germaine); Row River Trail near Cottage Grove, Oregon; elevation change 200 meters; no moon; clear and starry night. Several unplanned dismounts, one of which resulted in knee abrasion; very difficult to remount in the darkness; glare of approaching headlights making it very difficult to see, but fortunately not many cars due to late night and path being separate from road for much of ride. Finished about 10:10 p.m.

Saturday, January 26th: 103 km. Row River Trail (2 times 51.5 km mile round trip); accompanied by son Luke (bicycling) for first 51.5 km; began 8:15 a.m. and ended 12:02 p.m. Temperature between 1.7C/35F and 4.4C/40F; rained during almost all of ride; soaked and numb by the end; no unplanned dismounts. Took break to change to dry clothes and eat short lunch. Began 2nd 51.5 km leg at about 1:00 p.m., accompanied by 3 bicyclists (Doug and Polly Habliston; Kevin Grove); steady/cold rain for entire ride; about 4.4C/40F; lots of standing water on the path; several unplanned dismounts but none of consequence due to slow speed; very difficult to remount and had to have assistance at times to get back on unicycle; very tired by end; finishing at about 5:20 p.m. (15 minutes before dark).
Final result: 159.3 km (99 miles), most in adverse weather conditions, in a span of about 21 hours.
