Corbin and I set out for day one at 8am on a Saturday morning, with our newly made handles he welded and our newly spray-painted Nimbus'. I was soon to discover how different it felt to ride it with the handle and how much more difficult to mount!
Not much room for error or learning when you ride from our house which is 2 miles straight up till you hit Summit road, more up but not as steep, and then Skyline, more up, until finally a right turn onto Black Road challenges the knees and quads for miles of downhill. We stopped for a snack at the reservoir, and then climbed the mountain home. Nearly a vertical mile over a distance of 25 miles.

Day 2 was more festive, a start from Michele's house in Seascape, with Rob (riding 10 miles there to meet us), Kevin, Corbin, Michele, myself, and Scot (who caught up with us down the road).
I was exhausted from the 4700 feet of climbing the day before and the concert the night before and the LONG week and the cold weather, but friends were helpful at keeping me going.
AThe ride to Santa Cruz was beautiful along the coast, and relatively flat. We added that to Rob's ride: a climb up to UCSC, offroad in Wilder Park, back along West Cliff to the lighthouse. This is where the group got smaller, Rob heading home, Scot disappearing and Kevin riding way to fast to keep up.
Michele, Corbin and I finished the last 10 saddle sore miles, ate a big dinner and I headed to sing in another concert. Busy day.
