Support: Kerry and Jerome Cutler I started the ride on the Iron King trail, a gravel/dirt bike path near home. The first 3 miles are a gradual uphill and then the trail connects to the Peavine trail, a gorgeous trail next to boulders and a lake. I was on my second- round trip on the bike paths when the wind picked up. I did ok until I hit the parts of the trail with no trees or boulders to block the wind. After a couple of falls, I decided to take a break and re-locate to a paved bike path nearby. Something happened with one of my pedals. I tried to keep riding on it, but it really didn't feel right and I started to worry about breaking it, plus my ankle was hurting a little from riding in a crocked position. So frustrating because I wasn't sure how I'd be able to ride tomorrow if something was wrong with it and I needed to stop riding soon to pick my son up from school. After plugging the mileage off my GPS watch into the distance riding formula it looked like I needed at least 2 more miles. I took the uni over to my friend Kerry's house. Neither of us could get the pedal off, but when her husband got home from work he was able to fix it. (He said the threads were crossed.) What a lifesaver! Kerry babysat my son while I used the last bit of daylight to finish my ride around her neighborhood. Not only did Kerry watch my son and have her husband fix my unicycle, she also made me dinner, let me sit in her massage chair, and gave me a huge bouquet of flowers in congratulations for finishing my first qualify day. I have the world's best friends!!!!

The wind wasn't bad today and there were no mechanical problems, so it was a relaxing and uneventful ride. I took a couple breaks, but stayed on the uni the rest of the time. When I'm tired my freemount success rate is very low, so I didn't want to get off the uni any more than necessary. I rode 40miles(64.4km) with 2105ft(641m) ascent. 4hrs 45 minutes of time on the uni. I finished the ride in the dark using a headlamp I borrowed from a friend. Some credit for soft gravel, night riding, and the carry over of 22 from the previous day.
