We got started later than we had originally planned but it was a start none the less. This first little leg of our trip to La Jolla was probably the most beautiful but unfortunately we didn't get any pictures (there will always be more chances for that).
Coming back through the beach cities, everyone we passed was very encouraging. Thumbs up, big smiles, many "that's awesome!"'s, not too many "where's your other wheel?"'s, and we even got an "I love you!"!! We're still not sure which one of us that was directed at, though. The board walk that runs along much of the beach can become a real fun challenge at some spots where lots of people gather. You've really got to stay focused so that you don't collide with a beach cruiser or smoosh a little toddler.
Later on when it was dark and raining, we had perfect timing for the last big event of the night, a firework show.
We returned home thinking we had done enough for the day, but when we got on and charted it we found we were about 30 kilometers short. The night riding and rain brought our distance rating up, but that left a lot to make up for the next day.

Making up for lost time, we headed to Point Loma as soon as we could get ourselves out of bed. Our 'coach'(support person) joined us on his motorcycle part way through to take in the scenery and pose for pictures.
The afternoon took us to Coronado where we finished up our remaining miles on the thin sandy piece of land connecting Coronado to the main land called Silver Strand. The other portion was doing a few large loops through the rediculously posh neighborhoods to the north. Posh neighborhoods made for really smooth asphalt :)
