The morning was lovely all be it slightly cold. Snow could be seen on the peaks of the mountains but the sun was shining although there were dark clouds in the background. The plan was to ride the Taff Trail from Brecon to Cardiff bay and then some more if I needed to for the rating but things all went wrong at the top of the first long 11 km assent. Misreading the signs I took a wrong turning which sent me down and then back up another mountain. I then got totally lost and ended up on some fairly technical muni, on a coker with 110 mm cranks. I then dropped down into a small village and followed what I thought was the correct track, I was wrong. I had to call a friend to advise on my position on where I was. to my distress after 4 hours of riding I was only 9 km from my starting point! Unsure whether or not I had done enough to get the rating required I rode up and down the big assent again.
