We started early and started pretty slowly, having never ridden before and not knowing each others limits. The planned route for today started pretty flat, but with heavy winds for the first 7km. Luckily most of our laps were through the woods, loose gravel paths and some very nice hills. Holland’s best mountainbike trails run through these same woods. We take our first break after 30km or so, still feeling fine and very much up to the remaining 60km. After our short rest we ride along the beach, winds in our backs to the next entry path into the woods. Tough work, as it’s high tide and our tires sink deep into the sand, so it was a relief to be back on the gravel paths, out of the wind. We kept a solid 20km/h average until our next stop at about 60km, going for a short walk to walk off the saddle soreness. Next was a 5km gravel path that some people might consider as XC muni terrain, though we noted it as gravel. On a particularly steep hill Sander UPD’s and breaks off a cup on his aero-handles. The remaining 25km went pretty fine, keeping a consistent pace of about 18km/h, we were really feeling the saddle soreness by now but just keeping on till the final stop at my house.
We rode a total of 93.153km with an average of 18.1km/h with a final rating of 177 (subjective rating: 39, objective rating: 138)

Surprisingly, our legs felt great today and we weren’t dreading the saddle just yet. Another early start at around 10 o’clock, we trail support rider Frido Schaap, who now rides ahead on his mountainbike to check for traffic. Our route today allows us to make more speed, as we follow more hard packed paths. At around 15km Frido leaves us to our laps in the wood, where we will ride the remaining 55km. Because of our carry-over from yesterday we only have to ride 70km today, and with high spirits we ride until our first break at 40km. Our legs actually feeling better after the 90km ride yesterday. Another quick stop at 55km, no UPD’s yet and our saddle soreness seems to be staying away today. After our stop we ride the remaining 15km to the final stop at my house, with an average that is more than 1km/h faster than yesterday.
We rode a total of 73.538km with an average of 19.3km/h with a final rating of 154 (subjective rating: 24, objective rating: 98, prev day carryover: 31.75)
