For the 2 days, I decided to go for rides I already know so I don't have to check the map too often. I really appreciated it. The routes planned were a bit too long but I didn't want to do like last year when training for the Mediterranean Unicycle Tour : once I had done the route planned, I needed to ride more km and I didn't know where to go... So this year, I ended up turning back a bit earlier than planned My goal was to ride at about 16-18 km/h when it was flat and I managed to do it so I'm quite happy 1st Day, Saturday Stats: 80,9km, 527m of elevation, average speed: 14km/h, 8km by night The relay aspect of the race has already started for me: different friends join me like in a relay during the day so I'm never by myself!! For people who know Vancouver, the route is: from 8th and Vine -> 8th to UBC, back from UBC along the beach, seawall, loop around stanley Park, Lions gate bridge, West-Vancouver along Marine Drive, lighthouse -> back to 6th and Vine The plan is to start at 10am, we actually leave at 10.30 am (It's much better than last year's training when I ended up starting at 1:30pm most of the time) Tynan is my first corider on his 29". Start is hard: as usually, it takes me time to warm up and it's even worse when it it begins with uphill. Along the beach, Jon joins us on a 36". I fell pretty good, it's nice to ride with friends, even if it means you don't manage the things the same way, you adapt your breaks and speed... Martin joins us on a bike, but Jon leaves shortly after. Then Tynan leaves before we reach the Lions Gate bridge. We take a long stop for lunch, maybe a bit too long (1h30) and maybe a bit too late (2:30pm to 4pm). My legs are ok, it's just the back that hurts... After 60km, I start to feel tired, I have to face pretty good uphills and there are my weakness. It's time to go back home and the downhill are great, except that my wireless computer reminds me that wireless is not that great : I'm going at about 25km/h and my computer says 0 or 2km/h! I'm furious! At 65km, a hard plastic glass decide to go underneath my wheel without telling me, I UPD on my knees... It's not too bad, just a enormous bruise on of them and the other one is skinned. A last friend, Léane, joins on a bike at Stanley Park, we stop to chat a little bit and it's getting dark, Martin leaves us. The last 10km are done by night.

Sunday Stats: 78km, 720m of elevation, average speed: 15,2 km/h.
From 6th and Vine -> 7th, Charleson, Quebec, Union, Adanac, Union, Frances, Barnet highway to Port Moody to Belcarra Regional Park -> back home.
Léane joins me on her bike and stays with me during one hour. During the first half, I'm not going as fast as the day before, I'm probably a bit tired but also it has much more elevation. Today, I have saddle soreness. At first, the route is really calm, in residential areas and then it's along a highway but with really nice view along the sea. I have a great lunch at an organic art bistro! I'm thinking that I can ride a little bit more before I take a lunch break but then I decide it's better to have it at a nice place. I finally reach Belcarra Regional Park, but I finally don't really go further in it, it's not necessary, I've done enough km. I decide to explore a new little road which apparently leads to a beach on a lake. And a take a break there. My parents phone me just at the end of this quite long break, which makes it even longer..It's not the best time but I want to have my Sunday weekly call! Few meters after I start again, I realize my computer doesn't work and does strange things. I'm lucky, it happens just when I'm at half way, I just have to go the exact same way to go back home and I will multiply by 2 my figures! At 60km, I'm bored, I'm not really tired but I want to be home to do other things or just relax. At what I imagine to be 70km, I know I'm really close so I'm excited and I'm cruising...The hour changed last night so I'm home way before it gets dark. I know I could ride longer, I would have energy to do it if needed. But I'm quite happy to get home and lay down in a hot bath!!
